We are open to offers from anywhere in the Great Britain- for us, an interesting place is of far more importance than the house itself. As long as there are enough beds!! - but a sofabed would be fine too. We like pretty much everything - relaxing on a beach, walking in the countryside, exploring a town or village, lazing around the house – and talk english... Combining the tastes of teenagers and us elderlies means that every place has something to offer to our family - bribery and corruption can be used to get the kids' agreement to our choice, of course!

We have no experience of house exchange, but we are very proper and promise to take very good care of your house - the children have been well-trained.

If interested in finding out more, I can send you lots more information about us, more photos and things to do in our area.

A little bit about our area – Sognefjorden is a big fjord, 180 km long with steep mountains and several waterfalls. Its a rural area with agriculture and small villages.

Our house
Our house is located by the Sognefjord in West Norway – 230 km from Bergen.15 min walk to the fjord. The temperature in water usually is between 17 – 20 C in summertime.
15 min walk up in the mountain where you get a great view!
Our house is a comfortable family home with a large safe garden & private patio in a quiet location. We do have a cat. It can be boarded if preferred - unless you want company during your holiday here. Nearby is excellent for walking, fishing and biking.

How to get there
From Great Britain to Norway - low cost airlines to Tvedestrand, Haugesund and Bergen.

There are several daily connections from/to Bergen and Oslo via the breathtakingly steep Flåm Railway, which runs from Myrdal station up in the mountains all the way down to Flåm station by the fjord. To book train tickets call (+47) 815 00 888

Modern express boats depart Bergen city centre for Sogndal daily throughout the year. On the trip up the fjord the boats call at several villages including Vik, Balestrand and Leikanger. From 1 May to 30 September express boats also run daily from Bergen all the way to Flåm. These boats connect with ferries to Gudvangen, Kaupanger and Lærdal and transfer passengers out in the middle of the fjord.

What to see
Our house is ideally situated for day trips to some of the most beatiful scenery in Norway, such as Nærøyfjorden (1 h by express boat), Flåmsdalen (1 ½ h by car or 30 m by express boat) and Jostedalsbreen (1 h by car).

Jostedalsbreen - the largest glacier on the continent in Europe. Jostedalsbreen is particularly known by the huge contrasts in the landscape. You will find all from deep fjords and luxuriant valleys, to high mountains and arms of glacier. In between these extreme points, there is bubbling brooks, rivers and waterfalls in the mountainsides and valleys. Jostedalsbreen glacier has long traditions as a popular area for trips. Some of the glacier arms are the most visited touristattractions in Norway.

Nærøyfjorden is one of the most impressive of all fjords in the ounty of Sogn og Fjordane. The fjord is about 400 meters deep, and is surrounded by huge mountains. The highest mountain is stretching 1700 meter above the fjord. Nærøyfjorden is a marvellous example on a wild, dramatic and nearly untouched norwegian fjordlandscape.

Flåmsbana - The railway from Flåm to Myrdal, the Hardanger moutain, is a fantastic experience. The line 20km, while the steepest gradient is 5,5% (1:18). To cope with the enormous change in height over such a short stretch, the line runs partly through tunnels which spiral in and out of the mountainside. There is also a Flåm line museum in Flåm which should be visited during this experience

Some of the finest stave churces in Norway are situated in this region. Built around vertical poles, these medieval churches are the most distinctive buildings in Norwegian building tradition. Urnes stavkyrkje probably dates back to the beginning of the 12th century, which makes it the oldest stave church in Norway. The stave churches in Kaupanger and Borgung were built in the later half of the 12th century, and especially Borgund is a very popular sight, long reckoned to represent the generic building style of the stave churches.
