This is a traditional ground floor flat/apartment in a leafy neighbourhood of Edinburgh, to the south of the city centre (Princes Street). There are two large double bedrooms. One has a double bed (parents' room), the other (teenager's room) a loftbed (with computer & internet) and a double sofa-bed. The single bedroom (younger teenager's room)has a middle-height single bunkbed and is located towards the back of the flat, on the parkside. The kitchen is small, as it is located in what used to be the 'box room', but has fridge and gas hob and electric oven. The lounge, located also at the back, has a dining table and chairs, a three-seater sofa-bed and two-seater sofa. There is another fridge inside a cupboard for extra storage. There is also a low coffee table and a fireplace, which is not in use. TV is in this room. The bathroom, also at the back, has a bath with shower, sink and toilet. It is small, but has a (frosted-glass) window. There is a further storage room, which we will use to put some of our things out of the way. All rooms are connected to the central hallway, where there is a piano, telephone and coat stand.

Around the corner from a publisher, several convenience stores, hairdressers, post office, cafes, bank, gift shop, flower shop, school, yet quiet sideroad and neighbours. The union canal is 50 metres up the road, where you can hire rowing boats. The park is at the back of the flat, with a playground for younger children (0-9-ish). Locally (5 minute walk) there are buses to many parts of Edinburgh, particularly to the centre, where there is excellent shopping (John Lewis, Marks and Spencer's, Jenners, Harvey Nichols, Waitrose) and of course architecture, museums, art gallaries, and so on. Also easy access to activities further afield, such as the Pentland Hills & ski slope, boating on the Forth, Forth Bridges, Country parks. Train station is 20 minutes walk, or 5 minutes on the bus, giving access to the rest of Scotland for hill walking etc.
