Hi, Ed and Linda Bayly here. We are a retired couple and we love to travel.We are seeking an exchange of a month to six weeks. We are both non smokers.
We live in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and we have more hours of sunshine than any other part of Canada. Our region is known as Big Sky Country.
Lethbridge is a nice, clean, safe city with a pop. of 81,000. Our house is in a quiet cul de sac. We have a university, a college, four theatres, twenty three movie screens, six public swimming pools plus other sporting venues. There is horse racing all summer. There are three golf coures within the city limits and six more just twenty minutes away by car. There are major shopping malls, many resturants and lounges for your enjoyment.
The Oldman River runs through the centre of Lethbridge and the areas on both side of the river are designated a nature reserve where all manner of wildlife are often seen. The Helen Schuler Nature Centre along with Fort Whoop-up, a reconstruction of the fort used by the whisky traders in the early days, is also situated there.
Lethbridge is the ideal base for a number of interesting and unique places to visit. Sixty minutes to the south is the Montana, U.S. border. Ninety minutes south west is Warterton National Park, right in the heart of the Rockies with bear, elk, deer, mountain sheep and other animals a common sight and with lots to see and do. Twenty minutes west of Lethbridge is the town of Fort Mcleod where a reenactment of the Mounties musical ride is performed each day during the summer. Then another half an hour west is the Head Smashed In Buffalow Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Blood and Pegan Indian tribes perform their tribal ceremonies there on a regular basis. To the north of us is the Town of Drumheller, home of the Royal Tyrrell Museum, another World Heritage Site, devoted to the dinosaurs that roamed the region millions of years ago, a must see. Then to the north is the city of Calgary, home to the world famous Calgary Stampede,Banff National Park, Lake Louise and Edmonton, capital of Alberta and site of The West Edmonton Mall, the worlds largest.
There are bountiful fishing opportunities with stocked ponds in and around town plus mountain fishing and the Bow River which is a blue ribbon trout fishery. I am an avid fly fisherman and can supply more info. I also have a pontoon boat or belly boat available for your use.
We have two cars available , a new Honda Accord and an older Toyota Camry, both auto with ac. Currently petrol costs $1.00 a litre, and meals about half of what you would pay.
