I am looking to spend from 2 to 3 months in Oz and within 1hours travel time of Sydney, it may be that I can enjoy several exchanges.I'm open to offers. My cottage is in the world heritage site of Avebury with its stone circles. It is part of a small group of properties made from a former racing yard. The famous race horse Danehill was trained at the neighbouring yard of Beckhampton House. The house is small and cosy, with comfortable furnishings and beautifully light with windows into walled gardens at front and rear. I have both privacy and security with good neighbours around should they be needed. Although this is a hamlet we have a wonderful thatched old coaching inn as a pub just 2 minutes walk from the door. Charles Dickens is said to have written the bagman’s tale from the Pickwick Papers there.

The area is rich in ancient monuments with the earliest, West Kennett long barrow and Silbury hill only 10 minutes walk away. Although the cottage is in this idyllic spot, it is in the heart of southern England with Roman Cirencester and the Cotswolds 40 minutes away, Georgian Bath 30 minutes away, medieval Oxford 45 minutes away and Salisbury and its early medieval cathedral 30 minutes away. Lacock Abbey and village is where many films have been made including one of the Harry Potter films. It is about 20minutes drive away. London is just 1.5 hours on the train with Heathrow airport 1.5 hours and Bristol airport 1 hour away.
In fact all of Southern England and Wales is within easy reach of here.

The delightful market towns of Marlborough and Devizes are just 10minutes drive in either direction and because of the long shared drive onto the A4 road all routes are always kept clear for easy travelling should there be snow.
Activities nearby include golf and horse riding with the local leisure centres providing swimming and many others. One of the special features of this ancient area is all the footpaths and rights of way that criss cross all over this downland landscape.
